The date for the 2018 Adelaide Hills Rally will be from September 21st to 23rd based at the Mount Barker Showgrounds and traversing the greater Adelaide Hills Region.
Three Days of Rallying Heaven on some of the best gravel rally roads in Australia
Being round 5 of the Australian Rally Championship and the final round of the South Australian Rally Championship, competition is going to be tense, tight, fast and furious. The best rally teams of Australia and SA will not only be on show, but will be fighting hard for event honours. With the ARC teams, it will be coming to the final round as championship leader, and for the SA component, it will be for the 2018 South Australian Rally Champion.
There will also be an opportunity for those that have the wherewithal to take part in the AHR Introductory Rally competition and for a first in gravel rally in Australia, we will be offering an AHR Rally Tour experiences. This will allow for those that wish to traverse all the events’ closed road stages at posted road speeds with an AHR Tour Team that will guide you and give you all the information you need to get you started in Special Stage Rallying.
The event’s competition will commence with a Super Special Stage at the new Bend Motorsport Park on the Friday evening. The format of the SSS will allow for the competitors to go head to head with two cars on the track at a time. This will be a wonderful spectacle as everyone there will get to see firsthand the power of the cars and the skills of the teams. Once the SSS is complete, all competitors will transport back to the Adelaide Hills Rally Service Park and Headquarters at the Mount Barker Showgrounds, where the public can take part in the country fair atmosphere melded with a motorsport festival.
The Mount Barker Showgrounds will be a hive of activity over the weekend of the event. Whilst being the base of operations for event and the location for team servicing and regroups, it will also have a swathe of South Australia’s funky food trucks, Adelaide Hills Rally partner displays from Bott, Shannon’s, Leader Computers and City Holden (plus other event partners) and the Adelaide Hills Virtual Rally Experience; open to all comers to test their skills on state of the art equipment, whilst also competing against others and the actual competitors of the event. The showgrounds will also have an area for kids and kids at heart to have some fun.
Saturday will see competitors taking part in stages all through the Adelaide Hills eastern regions from Callington to Kersbrook; with several returns to the Adelaide Hills Rally Service Park for vehicle checks, refreshments and some time with the public. The Saturday evening will see all event competitors taking part in an online rally competition with each pitted against the other for outright honours in the inaugural Adelaide Hills Virtual Rally Experience Cup.
Sunday will find the crews heading out to the southern areas of the Adelaide Hills, again coming back to the Adelaide Hills Rally Service Park on numerous occasions, with the event finishing with a podium presentation on the Sunday afternoon. This will allow for all competitors to mingle and chat and for the event officials to gather with them for a well-deserved post event celebration.
